To get an A1 license, you must complete the Compulsory Base Training (CBT) and pass a theory test and an exam that is two-parts. The CBT course is essential to motorcycle training and prepares you for both the theory and the practical test. To pass your A1 test, you will need to be accompanied by an instructor who is certified in motorcycles. The test should take about 20 minutes and will comprise the modules 1 and 2. Module 1 is based at the training center, and is focused on off-road maneuvers including controlled stops, a slalom and a figure of eight. The rest of your test will be conducted on the road and will focus on your ability to control a motorbike when it is moving at high speed.
Module 2 will be focused on riding a motorcycle in traffic and navigating intersections. You will be tested in regards to your ability to follow road signs, and comprehend and apply the laws of the road. You will also have to demonstrate your ability to ride at a low speed and perform slow-controlled exercises such as turning left, riding up and down hills and a U-turn.
After you have passed your A1 licence you can upgrade to an A2 licence once you have passed your CBT, Theory and Practical Tests. You can then operate any A2 category bike and be able to carry passengers.
A2 Licence
The A2 Licence is the second step in the process of obtaining a full motorcycle licence. The A2 licence can be obtained at the age of 19 years old with an approved CBT course and is a restricted version a full motorcycle licence. The A2 license permits you to ride motorcycles with a maximum power of 47 BHP. However, bikes with more than this can only be restricted to 94 BHP.
If you choose to go the A2 option, then you must pass Module 1 and Module 2 in your motorcycle test. Both tests can be booked in the same location that you take your CBT course or theory test. The A2 route is best for riders who have completed their CBT course fairly quickly and are prepared financially and experientially for the possibility of a larger motorcycle.

A3 Licence
The A2 Licence allows riders to upgrade to larger bikes with more power. The A2 Licence offers additional advantages that you can't enjoy with the CBT. For example you can ride on motorways and transport passengers. You can move from CBT to A2 by taking additional training and passing the appropriate practical exams. The A2 license is valid for a period of two years. After that, it is able to be upgraded to an unrestricted A license.
The first step towards obtaining your A2 license is to be able to pass the Compulsory Base Training (CBT) test and the Motorcycle Theory Test. Once you have completed these requirements, you are able to take the Module 1 and Module 2 practical tests. The module 1 practical test involves demonstrating your ability to ride safely in a closed-circuit, while the module 2 test involves manoeuvres on an open road.
During the A2 practical test, you must be able to demonstrate good observation skills and anticipate hazards on the road. You must also be able make the right road position and perform controlled maneuvers. You must be able for example, to execute a U turn and a figure eight. You must be able control your bike at slow speeds such as when you are turning at intersections or responding to traffic signs.
After passing your A2 test, you can begin working towards obtaining the full A license. This can be done by either taking the direct entry exam or taking the progressive access route. A4 Licence
The A4 Licence allows drivers to drive vehicles with four wheels or more. This license covers trucks, buses and coaches. The licence also covers vehicles carrying dangerous goods. Drivers must pass a criminal background test to be eligible for the license. The Digital Driving Licence shows important details such as the date it was issued and the types of vehicles the driver is licensed for.
To get an A1 to A4 license the driver must attend a driving class or local transportation office. They must also pass a physical examination. The training course lasts for about 5 hours (1 day) and includes an instruction on driving etiquettes, defensive driving and other related laws.
If the application is approved, the driver will receive an 'application notice' that must be displayed at their premises. The cost will be based on the value of the property. After paying the fee, a driver will receive a 'licence summary sent by post. The remaining pages of the licence should be kept in a secure location, as police officers or council officials could ask to see them.
